A Note From Our Pastor’s Heart
Dear Church Family,
It often seems as though there is little talk among Christians on the subject of holiness. However, we when look at this subject through the pages of Scripture, we can clearly see that God created for more than just to exist here on earth. He created us so that we might bring glory to Him by living holy lives. The devotion below truly spoke to my heart this week about fulfilling the purpose of the life God has given to me. God has many diverse plans for us as individual Christians, but He has one common purpose for us all. He saved us to be conformed to the image of His dear Son. What a privilege it is to be a child of God!
I Love You ALL,
Pastor Brent
DESTINY OF HOLINESS
"Ye shall be holy; for I am holy" (1Peter 1:16, R.V.)
Continually restate to yourself what the purpose of your life is. The destined end of man is not happiness, nor health, but holiness. Nowadays we have far too many affinities, we are dissipated with them; right, good, noble affinities which will yet have their fulfillment, but in the meantime God has to disolve them. The one thing that matters is whether a man will accept the God who will make him holy. At all costs a man must be rightly related to God.
Do I believe I need to be holy? Do I believe God can come into me and make me holy? If by your preaching you convince me that I am unholy, I resent your preaching. The preaching of the gospel awakens an intense resentment because it must reveal that I am unholy; but it also awakens an intense craving. God has one defined end for mankind, which is holiness. His one aim is the production of saints. God is not an eternal blessing machine for men; He did not come to save men out of pity: He came to save men because He had created them to be holy. The Atonement means that God can put me back into perfect union with Himself, without a shadow between, through the Death of Jesus Christ.
Never tolerate through sympathy with yourself or with others any practice that is not in keeping with a holy God. Holiness means undefiled walking with the feet, undefiled talking with the tongue, undefiled thinking with the mind - every detail of the life under the scrutiny of God. Holiness is not only what God gives me, but what I manifest that God has given me.
—My Utmost For His Highest
Dear Church Family,
The Psalmist said in Psalm 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” We are encouraged by the Word of God to be people of praise. When we take time to stop and realize the goodness of God, it becomes very easy to praise Him. Our enemy, Satan, loves to try and steal our joy so that we will not find it important to praise God. It is in those times that we must draw closer to God and spend time in His Word. We serve an awesome God! Let’s give Him glory in this house today!
I Love You ALL,

Praise before Victory
After singing psalms, they went out to the Mount of Olives.—Mark 14:26
Praise is greatly honoring to God! In the Old Testament account of King Jehoshaphat, God's people faced a seemingly insurmountable enemy who was determined to destroy them. Yet God assured them that they would “stand still and see the salvation of the Lord” (2 Chron. 20:17). The people of Judah believed God. Their army was led by singers, offering praises to the Lord for their promised victory, and the victory came. When King David led the procession bringing the ark of the covenant into Jerusalem, he praised God with all of his strength (2 Sam. 6:12–23). David's praise was pleasing to God, and God's powerful presence remained in David's kingdom to give him victory against every enemy.
Jesus was about to go to Gethsemane and to the cross, where God's greatest victory would be accomplished. He led His disciples to sing a hymn. The disciples were all about to fail Him, and Jesus was about to be cruelly executed, yet Jesus insisted that they praise God. Their praise looked beyond the cross to God's ultimate victory. Praise is rooted not in circumstances of the moment but in the nature and trustworthiness of God.
You ought to rejoice when God asks you to proceed in the work of His kingdom because you know the victory is already secured. Don't focus on the problems and failures of others. Focus on God's assurance of victory. If you have trouble praising God with a song in your heart as you serve Him, it may be that your focus is not on God, but on your circumstances.
